Frank A. Gibson, 88, a long time resident of Farmington passes away on March 3, 2018 due to a stroke and years of struggling with Alzheimer's. He was born on September 10, 1929 in Benson, Arizona, the oldest of three children.
He was married 66 years to Alice Louise Maurhoff, who preceded him in death in 2014. Frank and Alice moved to Farmington with El Paso Natural Gas Company in 1951. They raised a family of four children
Frank being a heavy equipment operator, helped bring many gas and oil pipelines to the San Juan Basin. His favorite job was working on the Big Alaskan Pipeline.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He had a passion for roses, which he grew and shared with many of his friends. He was quite the backyard vegetable gardener too. He won Best of Show and many ribbons at the San Juan County Fair for his canning of salsa, jellies, salmon and vegetables that he cultivated.
Frank was preceded in death by his son Larry Frank Gibson, and grandson John Paul Rowe. He is survived by daughters Brenda (Gary) Omanson of Sun City, Arizona, Donna (James) Aunkst of Tijeras, New Mexico, Paula (John) Aunkst of Cedar Hill, New Mexico and Rita Gibson (daughter-in-law) of Farmington. He was blesses with 13 grandkids, 9 great grandkids and many nieces and nephews. He was loved and will be deeply missed.
Visitation will be Saturday March 10, 2018 at 10:00 A.M. with services following at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel at Brewer Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., Farmington. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
