Irvin “Dad” Earl Ashley was a very kind and caring, generous Father, Grand Father, Brother, Uncle and friend. He was born in Ganado, AZ to the late Leon Ashley and the late Irene Riggs on June 28, 1943. He is predeceased by his siblings: Edwin Ashley, Margaret Chischilly, and Raymond Ashley Sr. He is survived by his siblings Alvin Ashley Sr. and Cynthia Velarde. After graduating from Kirtland Central High School, he met the love of his life of 61 years to Sylvia Ashley. Together, they have 6 beloved children: Mona, Melissa, Randissa, Michael, Brandon and Brandi. He has 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren whom he was very supportive of.
One of his favorite sport hobbies was Bull riding, he retired as an oil refinery operator, he was also employed with the Bureau of Indian Affairs as an Education Instructor. Irvin passed away on July 15, 2024, in Shiprock, NM at the age of 81 after a courageous battle with serious medical issues. Despite the pain, Irvin came out as a hero and stayed strong until the end. He was surrounded by loved ones who will continue to honor his legacy by living their lives to making good and healthy decisions and to live life to their fullest.
A rosary and viewing services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. this Saturday, July 20, 2024. Location: Saint Mary’s Catholic Church located at 2100 E 20th Street, Farmington, NM 87401. The reception will follow immediately after the services located right behind the church at St. Mary’s Parish.
Burial will take place on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 3 p.m. Location: Greenlawn Cemetery, 1606 N Dustin Ave, Farmington NM 87401.
