Letha Hart Sherman, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2025, at the age of 87. Born July 23, 1937, in Tonkawa, Oklahoma to Vern and Eunice Bilyeu. Letha had six brothers and sisters. Letha was preceded in death by her parents Vern and Eunice Bilyeu, brothers Ernest, Glenn, Jessie Bilyeu and sister Laverna Nelson, Don Hart and Grandson Ryan Jenkins. She is survived by her husband Robert Sherman, sister Lois Jordan (Darryl) children: Ginger Jenkins (Tom), Connie Werther, Kim Martinez, Kris Hart (Paula), Korbi Hart (Cami), Gary Reed (Debbie). Grandchildren: Rusty Jenkins (Lisa), Brittney Hunsberger, Levi Fowler (Sierra) Kaleb Hart, Heather Hart, Alesha Sallar (Kofi), Kory Hart (Cassidy), Ruben Gomez (Daisha), Carol Hare (Chase), Lacey Carey (Westin), Kynli Hart, Eric Martinez (Leanna), Freddie Garcia (Misty), Mari Garcia, Manda Palmer (Bill), and Michelle Rogers (Curtis), Kasey Hart. Also survived by 29 great-grandchildren.
Letha was a member of Mountain Vista Baptist Church in Farmington. Involved in many ministries over the years in the community. She was an entrepreneur over the years that included restaurants, laundromat and dry wall and painting businesses. Her best attribute through all of it was being a wonderful wife, mother and above all Grandmas! She was always entertaining her grandkids and was known for building race cars, sewing dolls, ninja turtles and dressing up and scaring her grandkids and neighbors on Halloween. Her love was unconditional for the huge, blended family that she had. When you come to Grandmas you never leave hungry as you were entertained.
Known for her kind heart, unwavering strength, and warm smile, she touched the lives of all who knew her. Letha loved her family and community, it was evident in everything she did, and her legacy of compassion and resilience will live on in those she leaves behind. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered.
A service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 11:30 am, Mountain Vista Baptist Church, 4401 Wildflower Dr, Farmington, NM 87401. Burial to follow at Kirtland Fruitland Cemetery, Kirtland, New Mexico.
