Linda Kay Wright (Mortenson), Flora Vista NM, formerly of Davenport IA, passed away peacefully Monday February 24, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was surrounded by family and close friends.
Linda was born September 29, 1943, in Ottawa IL and was raised in Davenport, IA where she graduated from Davenport West High School. Upon graduation she attended cosmetology school and had a long career as a hairdresser. After retiring from hairdressing Linda held several jobs including Von Maur department store, Farm & Fleet and Sam’s club in Farmington NM.
In 1968 she married her loving husband Larrie Wright and together they raised two children, Jeff and Michele in Davenport. Later, when Larrie retired, they moved to Flora Vista and started a second phase of their life as loving grandparents.
Linda was an avid bowler in her younger years. She enjoyed reading mystery and thriller books and watching a good scary movie. She was a lifetime Cubs fan and enjoyed watching her ‘Cubbies’ as she called them. When Linda wasn’t working outside the home, she could be found working in her yard or inside her home, of which she was extremely proud.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband Larrie Wright, parents Mildred & Delmar Brown and sister Barbara Rogers.
Linda leaves behind daughter Michele (Tom) Bradbury, grandchildren Arlissa Kay Bradbury and Sean Thomas Bradbury, son Jeffrey Allen Wright, sister Christine Stinocher along with many nieces, nephews, close friends and her puppy Cooper.
A small graveside service will be held at noon on Friday, March 14th at Memory Gardens, 6917 E. Main, Farmington NM. Officiated by Linda Broom Stetter of Trinity Lutheran Church.
A celebration of life is planned on her birthday, details forthcoming.
Linda was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was kind, caring and loved by all that knew her. Words cannot express how much she will be missed.
