Myrtle LoRelle James returned to her Heavenly Father on May 30, 2018 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was born August 2, 1931 in Cloudcroft, NM to Felix and Ida Mae Hunter.
She is survived by two sons, Rick James and his wife Retta; David James and wife Cindy; sister, Dana Campbell and husband Jack. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, George Alton James.
Myrtle worked as a bookkeeper for many years at San Juan Springs, San Juan Parts, and Flint. She became part owner of The Cottage Art Supply store where she taught many tole painting classes. She was a very talented lady in all her hobbies of knitting, crocheting, cross stitching, needlepoint and quilting. She was a skilled seamstress, and gifted artist in water colors and oils. Her love of her family was evident in her dedication to genealogy which she did for over forty years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She was active in her church in various callings. She was also active and supportive of her husband, Alton, in all activities of the San Juan County Museum Association.
Viewing will be Monday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Apache Building, 400 W. Apache in Farmington. Services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Bishop Gene Hilton conducting. Interment will follow at Kirtland-Fruitland Cemetery.
