Orlin Cypher Gomez

Orlin Cypher Gómez, 60, of Farmington, NM, passed away on February 14, 2025, surrounded by his loved ones.

Orlin was born on April 3, 1964, and spent his life dedicated to both his career and his passion for ranching. He worked for ConocoPhillips for 30 years, but his heart was always on the ranch, where he found joy in hard work and the open land.

A proud Dallas Cowboys fan, Orlin stuck with his team through every season, always hopeful, even when they “sucked,” as he liked to say. He had a deep love for music and dancing, never missing a chance to turn up the volume and move to the beat. He was a natural teacher, passing down his skills and wisdom to his kids—whether it was fixing things, working the ranch, or simply embracing life with a strong work ethic and a good sense of humor.

Orlin’s legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Orlin’s greatest joy was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Shawna Gomez, and his children, Samantha Gomez, Alexandria Gomez, Jacob Gomez, Mia Gomez, and Hunter Gomez. He is also survived by his beloved mother, Cora Gomez, and his siblings, Donna Gomez, Michelle Gomez, Francis Garibay, Augustine Gomez, Sylvester Gomez, Patrick Gomez, and Yolandra Gomez. Orlin’s legacy of hard work, laughter, and love will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

A service to honor Orlin’s life will be held on Thursday, February 20, 2025, at 6 p.m. for the Rosary at St. Francis in Lumberton, NM. The funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 21, 2025, at 10 a.m. at St. Francisco in Lumberton, NM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to enjoy some good music, dance a little, and never lose faith in your team—just as Orlin always did.
