Robert A. Zimmerman (Bob) 93 years of age, of Farmington, NM, passed from this life Sunday September 30 at Bloomfield Nursing Home. Bob was born in San Diego, CA on March 31, 1925. His parents were Robert and Leila Zimmerman of Escondido, CA. Bob served in the Army in the Asian Pacific during WWII. After is his discharge in March 1945 Bob moved to the Four Corners area where he married, raised a family and remained for the rest of his life.
Bob was known to many as Bicycle Bob for the amazing number of bicycles and parts he had in his yard and shared with children of all ages. He was retired from Beeline Refinery and Kmart. Additionally Bob was a well-known auto mechanic and trader in the Farmington area for many years.
Bob was preceded in death by first wife and mother of his children, Mattie, second wife Wilma, his parents, two brothers, one sister, and John Mason, husband of Carolyn, and by Frank Velasquez, husband of Granddaughter Helen.
Bob is survived by his daughter Carolyn Mason of Farmington, sons Robert and wife June of Maryland, and William and wife Linda of Arizona. Along with five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren.
At Bob's request, there will be no services. Cremation will be performed by Brewer, Lee and Larkin Mortuary with ashes to be spread at a later date by family members. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Toys for Tots. Bob's care is entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 E. Ute St., in Farmington. (505)325-8688.
