He also served as Farmington High School Booster club president and President of the Farmington Amateur Baseball Congress. Once he retired in 1989, he devoted much of his energy to his work at the First Presbyterian Church where he and Clara were members since 1966 . He also pursued golf as a hobby he never seemed to have time for prior to retirement. He was a regular at Pinon Hills Golf Course. He enjoyed watching sports and attended every Connie Mack World Series held in Farmington until this year when his health did not permit it.
