Shirley Jane Mahan, 87, passed away peacefully Friday, May 12, 2018 in La Plata, New Mexico. She was born on June 9, 1930 in Ferndale, California to parents Robert Lee Allen and Norma Jane Allen.
She married the love of her life, Ralph Edward Mahan on October 7, 1955 and celebrated 55 years together. She was a housewife, homemaker, and was a loving mother and disciplinarian that raised five children. She had a wide variety of hobbies she loved doing and crafts she enjoyed sharing with her family and friends. She was also an avid outdoor person.
Shirley was proceeded in death by her parents, Robert Lee and Norma Jane Allen; husband, Ralph Edward Mahan; brothers, Bud, Raymond and Bobby Allen
Shirley is survived by her son, Richard (Lucy) Mahan; daughters, Rachel (Johnnie) Staff, Kathy (Leonard) Foyt, Becky (Delmar) Newman, and René Steward; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Kathy (Allen) Buzbee.
Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 22 at Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, located at 103 E. Ute St. in Farmington, NM. Pastor Kenny Weisheit will be officiating. Interment will follow at Memory Gardens.
Pallbearers are David Steward, Jacob Ruybalid, Danny Huntington, Edward Saiz, Nathaniel Phillips and Austin Phillips.
